Cannes Film Festival is known for its glamour and over the recent years its become a huge source of inspiration for hair and makeup trends. We loved all the looks we saw during the festival, some surprising looks and some expected ones! Now that this star-studded festival is over let’s look back on Cannes 2016 best beauty looks.

We loved everything from Kristen Stewart’s lipstick to Bella Hadid’s highlighter, Blake Lively’s hair to Kendall Jenner’s well everything. Hairstyles from plaits, buns, headbands, slick look, ponytails and waves were seen on the stars that attended the festival and some were seen experimenting with their eyes and lips. The stars gave us some real Cannes 2016 best beauty looks to follow.

Plaits/Braids

The boho-trend was kept alive by Chanel Iman in a crown plait to go with her mesh gown and Riley Keough was seen rocking one full french braid with soft makeup. Lily Donaldson has given us a cool summer style to follow with that loose plait and 90’s style dark brown lips and black choker. Gaia Weiss took braids to a whole new level, from her upside braid hairstyle to pretty much braids everywhere.

Buns

Bun’s were a huge this year and I think they always work best with gowns and look very feminine. Get inspired from one of Cannes 2016 best beauty looks with some of these buns, Uma Thurman went for a twisted knot placed at the side of her neck with a few strands loose around her crown. Another loose perfectly-undone bun was seen on Victoria Beckham showing off that strapless jumpsuit of hers and Julia Roberts also wore her hair tied back for her Money Monster photocall. After three loose bun styles Katy Perry went for a perfectly slicked bun with bright red lips matching her gown.

Eyes

Red eyeshadow isn’t exactly the easiest look to pull off but Kristen Stewart gave it a try and definitely did her best to convince us to try it out. Blue eyes, blue eyeshadow, blue eyeliner it’s been all blue for this years spring and Aishwarya Rai followed the trend well with a daring blue eye look. On the other hand Eva Longoria had a surprise for us, just when we thought her eyes were regular shimmery smoky eyes her eyelids revealed an unexpected dose of gold.

Slick Look

A perfectly slicked look seems to be the way to go this year without a doubt and our best examples has been Kendall Jenner. All she had to do was pair her sheer gown with a simple and sexy slicked back hair look. Natasha Poly was seen following Kendall Jenner by brushing her long hair back in a slick manner. Slicked back hair was not only seen in an open hairstyle but also in Cannes official hairstyle; the ponytail. Bella Hadid and Adriana Lima had the most perfect ponytails there possibly could be.

Headbands

Two major examples were set with headbands this year, one of Blake Lively completing her cinderella look with a pink sapphire flower headband as her tiara that she wore at the back of her head. The other is Karlie Kloss who literally tied herself up as a gift with a cute black bow at the premiere of Julieta.

Lips

If you haven’t yet accepted orange as the lip colour of the season, Chloe Sevigny’s bold pout is here to convince you. Kendall Jenner also decided to go orange matching the pops of colour from her gown. Amal Clooney went with the classic red lips and although it came as a surprise to many Kristen Stewart did too. Aishwarya Rai had the most talked about lips from Cannes and people still can’t get over the fact that she had purple lips. She definitely gets the vote for the most daring beauty look!

Waves

The Queen of Cannes Blake Lively opened the festival with soft loose waves setting the trend for the wavy hairstyle. Julia Roberts had her attention in two places one that she was barefoot and the other her hair, her effortless textured waves did the trick and Anna Kendrick was the winner with the old Hollywood waves! They were too perfect to be true and she looked stunning!

Ponytail

The Ponytail is officially the hairstyle of Cannes 2016 and as always at least one of Blake Lively’s looks include a ponytail. She made two ponytail appearances one with a clean look and the other with a textured look. Kendall Jenner, Irina Shayk and Barbara Palvin went for more playful versions that kept their look soft and wavy. Cannes 2016 best beauty looks is now considered incomplete without one ponytail.

Soft Colours

Blake Lively set an example of soft makeup on day one of the festival and Supermodels Bella Hadid and Doutzen Kroes followed this look, Bella’s cheekbones were right on point though! Barabra Palvin and Chanel Iman were also seen in soft, natural make-up emphasising their beautiful eyes with full on lashes. Sonam Kapoor went for a princess-look with simple and soft pink lips, eyeshadow and blush.
