Have you ever thought about what to wear with jeans? I doubt it because a pair of jeans is one of the easiest pieces of clothing to style as it is considered a form of basic clothing. However, with all the new cuts and trends that come out with denim, there could be some confusion. Recently there has been a lot of craze on denim when it comes to fashion trends. One is those super flared jeans that are taking over our Instagram like a storm and the other of denim on denim outfit looks that are super hot right now. While I was in London recently to be very honest I know had one thing in mind, to get the perfect pair of frayed jeans and I think I tried a huge number of different styles till I found this store that I absolutely fell in love with it. I have no idea why I had not discovered this brand before since it’s not even very new. I was extremely disappointed that all this time I was missing out all their amazing collections but happy that now I have my go-to place when it comes to finding the latest trends. Since my parents live in London, I have specifically told my mom to keep an eye out for this brand. I am not even exaggerating when I say that it’s one of those stores where you walk in and each and every piece of clothing is right on trend and super stylish. You don’t even need to give any piece a second thought and you feel like picking up each and every product that is there. This amazing brand is called STRADIVARIUS. It was founded in 1994 and is based out of Spain with stores spread over 60 different countries.

Now getting back to what to wear with jeans, I understand it might be difficult to decide on what goes with a pair of frayed hem jeans. Many people have asked me on what looks best with it just because they think there is already that main element of the fringe on the jeans they don’t want to overdo it. Remember this year the more the better when it comes to fashion. Other than that there really aren’t any rules, to be honest, don’t over think it, they are still just a pair of jeans. I have styled two looks wearing the same pair but with two different tops. While I’m writing this I have just realized that the jeans and two tops are all from Stradivarius, I was thinking all about the jeans that I forgot that the entire two looks are all from one place. I guess this shows just how many things I have picked up from there 😛

First Look:

I was very careful when it came to my shopping this time I was in London. I wanted to cover all the basics and everything I picked up, I was thinking about this season and the trends right now. I didn’t worry about long-term, casual, winter wears nothing, just straight out what works right now. Keeping that in mind you will see how other than the jeans how the top and my sneakers are right on point. I was over the moon when I bought my new Puma Basket Heart white sneakers as just early this year we talked all about this ballet-inspired collection on Posherry. While writing about them back then I never thought that I would actually end up buying them, but I did and I love them! They are the perfect sneakers with the perfect amount of feminine touch to them, this makes them work with almost any outfit. Coming on to the top, we can’t say that off-shoulder is completely out but there is no doubt that the one-shoulder trend has taken over majorly. Runways and street style are all about that one sleeve recently and this beautiful top has all the right elements. It’s got that shirt look and the puff on the sleeves.

You know how Posherry just loves all different body types and according to mine, this look worked out pretty well. The top is a crop top but as the jeans are high-waisted only a tiny area of my waist was shown. This worked as just the right amount was showing according to my comfort, it’s also a straight fit that gives my body the shape it needs. I finished my look off with a multicolor pastel choker and a casual leather backpack.

Second Look:

For the second look on what to wear with jeans with frayed hems, I changed the top to a similar shirt fabric to the first one but a whole new style. Both the tops have the blue and white stripes shirt pattern, however, this look is an actual shirt. Floral embroidery on shirts are every fashion girls favorite piece of clothing right now. I am not all for very bright floral designs personally, but this shirt stood out to me. The colors are not that bright and perhaps that is why I liked it so much. I like how the flowers are very subtle where soft pastel and fresh colors have been used. I can’t stress enough as to how soft and comfortable this shirt is to wear. For the second look, I tucked the shirt it into my jeans for a cool semi-formal summer look.

The look was styled with brown accessories just because when you tuck in a shirt it always looks nice to wear a belt and my favorite belt these days is this broad leather belt by Ralph Lauren. The brown sling bag compliments the belt and look quite well and last but not least the famous mules from Primark. Recently there was a lot of controversy about how Primark is selling a look-alike of Prada’s mules at a very low price. Whatever the outcome of that, it doesn’t affect me I just care that I have these pretty shoes. The soft pink/beige color goes really well with the colors of the flowers on the shirt.

Summer has really kicked in and it’s too difficult to handle the heat now. Putting this look together was fun but actually shooting is was pretty much a nightmare. We have started putting together our summer outfit ideas for you all and this look was the best way to start it. As you know recently I was in London and picked up a variety of cool stuff for the summer. We all know how London’s weather is completely unpredictable, one minute it’s raining and the next the sun is out. It’s become a standard reply for when someone asks “How will the weather be in London right now?” And you answer: “Just be prepared for any type of weather, it can rain there anytime so keep an umbrella with you always!” I think I have heard this line so many times over the past years and have actually found myself giving the same advice to other people as well.

I doubt it was made keeping that in mind and perhaps when you see for yourself you might not realise it but since I like to analyse what I’m wearing these are my thoughts on the print of this beautiful dress from Next. Summer Outfit Ideas: Clouds & Florals-A London Summer Print

What do you see in the print? I see a bunch of gloomy grey clouds with pops of colour and florals between them. Don’t you think this concludes exactly what London summer weather is like in the most fashionable way possible? This outfit is a drop waist scallop hem dress where the scallops fit in just perfectly with the shape of the clouds. The colour combination is so fresh where light neutral greys are used with teal and orange for the florals. Personally for a while now one of my favourite colours has been teal so there is a reason this dress caught my eye.

If you follow Posherry on Instagram you might have seen that I recently got my first tattoo and it is of my adorable little dog who has been a part of my life for the past 14 years. This look was also exciting for me for this very reason, to get to show off my tattoo proudly in style. I love how he is always going to be a part of my outfit detail shot from now on. Coming to the details, in our spring/summer shoe trend guide for 2017 we mentioned how glove pumps are on trend for the season. I got these grey glove flats from New Look and they worked well with the dress and for me as well since they are flats. I’m not a huge fan of open toe sandals either, I prefer wearing closed shoes even if its summer. To finish off my look I paired my very old classic beige Lady Dior Patent Leather Handbag. My favourite part of the look are the orange rose stud earrings, they matched perfectly with the orange florals in the dress.

Exactly around this time last year I was doing my very shoot for Posherry and here we are one year later with 163 posts on the blog and another outfit to celebrate. This is one of those posts that is truly right from the heart, because there is so much to say right now and so many feelings involved. Over the past year not only has Posherry grown but so have I as an individual, in the way I am and the way I live my life now. I have been a part of the fashion world since the past 7 years now, right from studying fashion, working for a designer to now having my own fashion startup. All three stages are very different from each other and have come with their own set of experiences, but I have learnt the most in the last one year. Things were not always easy and they still aren’t, not coming from a business family background and having to think like one has been the biggest challenge. This is all part of growing up and suddenly I feel old now, especially after turning 25 recently. I bring up this point because my denim on denim outfit look today is completed by this beautiful Tory Burch leather messenger bag that was given to me as a birthday gift by my sister and brother-in-law.

Denim On Denim To Celebrate The Next Phase In Life

Other than Posherry turning one and myself turning 25 this post also shows (hopefully) that I have lost weight during this time. I have definitely started taking healthy living very seriously and give a lot of attention exercising and what I eat. If you remember in a couple of my previous outfit posts I have mentioned how conscious I get about my legs and how I always like to keep them covered. That feeling has not gone anywhere but there has definitely been an impact because I feel better and more confident with my own body now. I still have to work on it but I took this time to challenge myself and wear this short skirt for my denim on denim look. The patched denim jacket which is a super hot trend right now is absolutely stunning and impressive. I say this because even though it might look like there are patches on them, it’s not! ‘This jacket has been hand-painted, ripped and embroidered by Pallavi Shastri (Koko) from LeoPajo’ and I am completely in love with it. I believe I have hit a couple of trends with this look today, from a patched denim jacket, overall denim on denim look, a little athleisure touch with a sporty strip hem crop top and of course the color burgundy with the Tory Burch leather bag.

Denim on denim can sometimes be very tricky to pull of, my suggestion would be to stick to a darker color for the bottom and lighter for the top or it should be the exact same color of denim for both. As the jacket from LeoPajo was a lighter color and I didn’t want a monochrome look I styled it with a darker blue flared denim skirt.

There was a time when I was studying Fashion and we were taught that corsets are considered a type of lingerie. With time I have seen this change and how the corset has basically become: underwear as outerwear. At Uni we had a whole module dedicated to corsets and we had to stitch one of our own, I found the one I designed and stitched the other day and thought it would be the perfect piece to style my next look. Keeping with the trend that has been hot since 2016, I have put together a look on how to wear a corset over a shirt.

Corsets can also be very tricky and can look a little trashy, my tip on trying out this trend is to be careful with leather corsets (try a fabric one if you’re trying it for the first time). One way you can tone down your look if your wearing a corset is by sticking to the same family of colors or go very neutral. This is what I have done with my look, as my corset is a cotton floral printed one with shades of blue I paired it with a blue shirt underneath. A white shirt could also work for those who really want to put all the attention on the corset! The great thing about wearing a corset over a shirt is that if your hesitant at showing some skin but want to try the trend this will really help. I wore a pair of skinny jeans with my look and it really spices up your ordinary shirt and jeans ensemble, think of it as a wonderful accessory to your top.

Accessorising this look was a little tricky as usually it’s very easy to pick up a black, brown or gold detailed bag but none of that would work with this outfit. I usually would never carry a white purse but somehow it went well with it and looked quite subtle, to match it I finished my look with a pair of silver metallic loafers.

~Christmas isn’t a season, it’s a feeling~ Posherry wishes all you lovely people a very Merry Christmas and wish you all the love, happiness and peace in the world! We hope all you fashionistas have received the fashionable goodies you deserve, enjoy them for your holiday parties this season. It has been a very busy week for me with things happening within the family and juggling with work, but I finally managed to have a very nice Christmas Eve last night and discovered some cute winter outfits to add to my collection.

Recently my mother took out some old winter clothes for me to sort out and I picked out a sweater that looked stunning. I asked her where has this been all this time, it’s so beautiful? She replied “Your grandmother knitted this sweater, I have showed it to you before and you said it was ugly”. This is when I realised that yes perhaps a couple years ago I would have said no I can’t wear this but this is the beauty of Fashion. It is always changing and old trends keep coming back, oversized sweater, sweater dresses, stripes are something that everyone has been talking about for this season and all of this was in this one sweater I once called ugly. The value of it also increased knowing that my Grandmother knit this, I don’t know how she did it but I’m lucky to have it. I decided that this homely meaningful sweater will definitely be what I wear this Christmas.

I agree that everyone should wear a little red during Christmas time, it just lifts the mood around however all red becomes a little too much. This is how I styled my Christmas outfit with red touches and accessories, I think this is definitely one of my favourite cute winter outfits in my wardrobe now!

It’s getting colder day by day and it is time to get your winter dressing on point with my first winter outfit ideas post! As we are coming close to the end of 2016 let’s just remember one of the hottest trends from this year. This trend worked in every part of the world, on all body types and now we can also say all seasons; the Cold Shoulder Trend. I had this suede off-shoulder dress with me for a while now and never found the right time to wear it. It was too warm for the hot weather and I was not too sure how it would work out during the winters. However as we all know it has become very easy to layer clothes together in order to create a look, and use the same thing from your wardrobe for several different looks as well.

A fashion trend we had started to see a lot recently was the off-shoulder dresses and tops being worn over shirts. Taking inspiration from this layering concept and keeping in mind the cold weather, I pulled out an old turtle neck sweater of mine and wore my dress over it for one of my winter outfit ideas. Turtle necks are another favourite trend for this season for all the fashion lovers out there! Luckily mine was a sleeveless one which saved my outfit from looking very bulky and it also allowed me to show just the right amount of skin you can in this weather.

This outfit is perfect for those sunny days in the winters, where no scarves are required or jackets for that matter. A pair of sunglasses, tights and boots and your all set. I love to mix high and low end brands in my every day look and for this one I had boots from Primark, to sunglasses from Dolce & Gabbana and my purse from River Island. When you are looking out for winter outfit ideas I am sure you find many neutral colors and earthy colors that pop up, that’s because it’s always a classic color for the winter. I always enjoy some color in my outfits, so keep an eye out for the next post but for this one I kept it simple with standard black and brown!

I usually don’t experiment a lot with my makeup but this was the first time I spent some time on my lips, I loved the color which is why I am specially making a point about this. For the first time I actually mixed a few shades together and topped it with a dab of eyeshadow to get this super unique color (however I haven’t managed to get the same color since then 😛).

People might think of October in a way that Fall is here and you start feeling the season changing and your clothes changing. However in India October marked the beginning of the festive season. It all began with Navratri and Dussehra and now we come to around the middle of the month where Diwali parties are in full swing and before you know it, it will be Diwali! This is my favourite time of the year since many of you know if you follow my blog, I was not born or raised in India meaning a good 20 something years away from all these festivals. Not having lived here though means that I don’t own a lot of Indian clothes, which is always a big problem for me. Over the years I have lived here I have bought some Indian wear and this month I took them all out along with some of my moms clothes and started to explore. I immediately fell in love with two of her phulkari dupattas that were absolutely stunning. One of them had a yellow base and it was not in a set, which meant I had to create one from what I had. This phulkari dupatta with plain suits is what made sense to me the most as the dupatta is full of work all over and to highlight it a plain suit below it was the best option.

Phulkari is one of my favourite types of embroidery, which is an embroidery technique from the Punjab region and literally means ‘Flower Work’. The embroidery is done in silk threads with bright colors to form a geometrical pattern. When I was in college, I had explored this embroidery technique in depth by learning how to do it, from making embroidery swatches to a full garment that had Phulkari embroidery on it. You can see why my mom’s dupatta grabbed my attention!

As the dupatta had a yellow base and embroidery in colours such as blue and pink, I paired it with a plain yellow kurta from Westside and a pink churidar. It is definitely a very bright colour combination, but why not when it is a time for Indian festivals, you should always celebrate with colours. Pink was a nice colour to use to finish my look, pink lips, pink bindi, pink necklace and a pink potli bag from Global Desi.

It has been a while since I did an outfit post but that is because till I am not excited about an outfit, look or trend I don’t feel the need to do one! Recently there have been heaps and heaps of inspiration coming in from a series of fashion weeks. It all began with India when Lakme Fashion Week took place in August and we saw the designers deliver some amazing new styles that are here to last for a while. Right after this September came which meant moving away from India and the start of the famous Fashion month. Fashion month includes fashion weeks starting from New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week to Milan Fashion Week. It is one of the most exciting times of the year since wherever you are in the World, everyone takes the biggest part of their inspiration and picks up the best trends from these fashion weeks. The runway is not always the most important, street style plays a big role for some real fashion advice, in how to find your style by seeing them on real woman in our daily lives! Putting all these things together a lot of trends really stood out and it was then when I received this beautiful bell sleeve top from Witty Bae.

Coming back to my new top from Witty Bae, the minute I saw it two looks came to my mind right away. Why two looks? This was because some of the trends from Lakme Fashion Week came to mind of wearing long tops as blouses with sarees and to be even more precise a lot of them had bell sleeves. The brand being an international one with no India styles it didn’t seem fair to just do an Indian look, hence the two looks! Everyone knows how to find your style for yourself, but I hope I can help in finding it with the two looks I styled. 

First have a look at how I styled this bell sleeve top with a plain black cotton saree. Hot trends this year have been to wear simple, plain cotton sarees and from Lakme Fashion Week we saw a lot of the models wearing them with sneakers. I have kept the silver metallic/grey look constant in both my looks today, with the saree I wore metallic silver sneakers with traditional Indian silver jewelry. Personally I’m loving this new sneakers and saree look!

How To Find Your Style With Witty Bae’s Top In Two Looks

Coming to my second look, the western look, I paired the top with all things grey. Some of the styles that have be trending this year was my goal to put it all together in the two looks. In this look I focused on some of the beauty trends as well, the braided hair crowns and plum lips! Pom Poms have been another style that has been loved this year and though I didn’t have any in my clothing my beautiful keychain from Witty Bae had one. It even matched my plum lips perfectly, adding that pop of color to the entire look. The last thing and my favourite accessory right now, the reflector sunglasses! We have seen many celebrities in them and it is one of the hottest trends from the fashion week street style. Stripes stormed many runways this year in every possible style you can think of, it is definitely a trend that is going to come back bigger than ever before you know it so watch out! Now it’s not just about the Breton shirts anymore, designers from around the world and many major fashion weeks have made stripes bolder and brighter than ever. They are now running in all directions, shapes and sizes making it different and fun because you will see them on pretty much any type of clothing now; pants, skirts, dresses, tops, culottes etc. Today my look is about blue and white stripes that are vertical and are of different thickness.

Stripes sometimes also helps defining your body in a way you want it to and for me even though I am tall, I am not exactly the thinnest so for me working with vertical stripes is in my best interest. This elongates my body further and makes me look leaner which is exactly what I have done with this look by wearing a blue and white stripes maxi dress.

Everyone has their own specific problems with their body when they wear certain clothes, for me wearing sleeveless is a rare option especially for photos. To solve this problem of mine I started experimenting with layering my striped dress in a way where I could also show the maximum stripes from the dress. When one thing works the whole look just comes together, I layered my blue and white stripes dress from Abercrombie & Fitch with a black front open slit long top.

Completing a look with black accessories is always easy and for this look I choose to pair it up with my new black woven bag from PC Clutches, a brand by one of my close friends. Lastly I wore a pair of black and white platform sandals to complete my blue and white stripes dress outfit.

Today I am starting a new series on ‘Saree Draping Styles’. My plan is to present at least 3-4 different saree draping styles and challenge the regular traditional way of draping a saree. I will try to show all the hot and new trendy ways to wear a saree and hopefully there will be something there for everyone to enjoy, so keep an eye out!

Indian clothes is something that I am really fascinated by and I think it is because my whole life I grew up outside of India, when you see certain type of clothes that you are not used to seeing everyday it’s interesting. The fascination increased after studying in India, obviously I gained more knowledge about different cuts, embroideries, styles etc. However since I have not had a lot of opportunities in my life to wear Indian clothes I don’t own much and I think out of all the styles there are I have never bought a Saree for myself. How things change though, I was approached by Sareez.com to review one of their sarees. At first I had my doubts as it definitely wasn’t my comfort zone but then I thought let’s give it a shot and it gave me a chance to try a new look for myself and experiment with some saree draping styles, which is always fun.

I had the choice to choose from their wide collection of products and one saree really stood out for a specific reason, i’ll come back to that. While I was working as an assistant designer at Varun Bahl last year we had come up with a new concept of a lehenga sarees, so basically eliminate the classic petticoat with a voluminous skirt. Coming back to why this particular saree stood out to me is because I have a plain green silk lehenga of my own and I thought it would work perfectly with the colors from the saree I choose. This is when I got really excited about this post since I wasn’t just going to wear the saree in a traditional way but in fact work on some saree draping styles. Another reason I was excited for this shoot was because of the location, I was in Udaipur recently for a friends wedding and I don’t think there could have been a better place to shoot this saree. It ended up being a shoot where I had a lot of fun as I had all my girlfriends around me, helping me get ready, draping the saree for me and best of all one of my best friends taking the pictures for me! For all these reasons, the end result was just great with the scenery of Udaivilas, the bright and fresh yellow and off-white printed saree in between their beautiful green lawns.

When I received the saree I was so happy with the quality of it as well as how perfectly my made to measure blouse fit me. It is a half and half yellow and off-white faux georgette printed saree with a floral and leaf print (buy it here). The blouse is an off-white dupion silk blouse with printed sleeves and patchwork embroidery on one side.
